Sara Manning Mph Pmp Acrp-Ccrc’s Expertise As an experienced project manager with 14 years clinical research experience, I have had many opportunities to witness the transformative outcomes clinical research can make for an individual patient. When I was a clinical research coordinator, I was able to guide a family through the rare disease diagnostic odyssey to a confirmed diagnosis and then through a clinical trial resulting in an FDA approved therapy. That patient, that family, that experience drives my continued passion for research having seen the difference my efforts makes for that patient and all those who loved that patient. There are so many people waiting for life-saving and life-changing therapies, and it is a privilege to work towards meeting those therapeutic needs. Whether we are Project Managers, CRCs, Academic Medicine, MDs, nurses, Pharma, CROs, Data Managers, Labs, or any of the other research collaborators, we are all on the patient’s team. In this time of COVID-19, the general public has a better understanding of how clinical research can translate for better patient outcomes, potentially on a global scale. It provides a unique opportunity and exciting time to be working in clinical research, and I am excited to see how my efforts and the efforts of clinical research personnel contributes to a common good in the next couple of years. As a project manager, I have clinical research experience across cardiology, cardio-oncology, and human genetics therapeutic areas. I provide leadership and management for 40+ clinical research projects from initiation to close-out, coverage analysis and resource allocation, and adherence to project timelines to ensure study deliverables are met. I develop budgets based on the coverage analysis and sponsor contracts, budget tracking and invoicing. I mange 4 direct reports, with all associated human resource tasks from hiring, training, performance management, professional development, and advancement, as well as 14 indirect reports. I lead cross functional teams and originate innovative solutions to ensure deliverables are met. My sponsors/CROs enjoy working with me for the positivity, problem solving, and expertise I bring to their projects. My direct reports appreciate support of their personal and career development while advocating for work-life balance. I am driven by my personal career path and thrive on being able to assist in developing new drugs, devices, and therapies to market to improve the health and quality of life for patients.
